SERC 2020 Committee Spotlight

Each year, participating SMPS Chapters across the Southeast sponsor and organize a regional marketing and business development conference. This annual event aims to connect A/E/C professionals for three days of learning top-of-mind tools and tactics, while networking in one of the participating Chapters’ cities. A rotating team of SMPS members who volunteer their time and energy to create opportunities for learning and networking plan the conference. The committee is also responsible for the planning and execution of activities, accommodation discounts, meals, meeting space, presenter procurement, and all communications.

In March, our Southeast Regional Conference (SERC) Committee was prepared to present an outstanding lineup of topics relevant to our industry’s growth and development. This year, our Tampa, Florida chapter was set to host the event. As our world shifted, the committee had to make a quick decision. With the very much appreciated sponsorship by Full Sail Partners, the conference shifted to a virtual setting. Since April, the committee has delivered weekly content to the Southeast and other parts of the SMPS society.

We thank all those who participated and sponsored this event for their commitment to providing education and connection during this time of uncertainty.

Message from SMPS Atlanta : Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

The COVID-19 situation in our city, region, and state continues to unfold. While the Atlanta board of directors has been contingency planning for the past few weeks around new developments, specific responses to recommended measures to slow the infection rate evolve on a daily basis. As of March 12, 2020 we are further adjusting our planned meetings, events, and gatherings. Please return to this post regularly, as any additional changes will be noted here as well as in individual event/meeting details.

At this time, we have the following updates to share:

Tickets to RESCHEDULED events will automatically transfer to the new date – there is no action required on your part, unless you prefer a refund. Tickets to CANCELED events have been refunded. Thank you for your patience as we continue to navigate the situation. If you have any questions, please contact us at [email protected]

If you have ideas or resources to share that might benefit others as they expand their telecommuting strategies and alternatives to meeting in person, please connect with us on social media. We are in this together! Responding ethically and balancing safety and health concerns while continuing to educate and connect leaders in the building industry is SMPS Atlanta’s highest priority.
