Summer 2011 Inspiration

As we wrap up another SMPS year, I’m excited to take on the role of chapter president for 2011 – 2012. SMPS is a great organization, and Atlanta is one of the strongest chapters nationwide. We have more than 150 members, with four SMPS fellows and four foundation trustees. We also have one national board member, Kevin Hebblethwaite, who will be national president-elect this year. It’s great to be a part of such a successful group of professionals!
The economy has had a huge impact on our industry and our member firms, so the board of SMPS Atlanta feels it’s time to give back to our members and share some of our success as a financially strong, award-winning chapter. The following paragraphs outline some of our plans for 2011 – 2012.

Member Spotlight: Sarah Zibanejadrad

Sarah Zibanejadrad has been selected as Member of the Month for her outstanding contributions to the Communications Committee. Sarah has been instrumental in our social media initiatives and has taken over our Twitter and Facebook accounts for the chapter. In a matter of months, Sarah has increased our traffic, followers, viewership, and retention through her innovative social media techniques.

Sarah Zibanejadrad is currently Marketing Coordinator for Oasis Consulting Services, an engineering firm in Roswell, Georgia. Oasis is a woman-owned business that specializes in providing geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, materials testing, solid waste design, and landfill construction quality assurance. Sarah also consults businesses on the use of social media and how to incorporate online media into their marketing plan through Rumor Interactive Media. She enjoys traveling, photography, and blogging in her spare time.

What I love about SMPS is all of the tools that the group provides members to aid in growing business. From educational seminars that focus on my industry to networking with potential clients, SMPS has always been a source for me to rely on. Also, the network of members has been incredible in regards to providing support and advice for those in the SMPS community.
