Half Day Event – How to Influence and Implement Your Strategic, Marketing, and Business Plans

These industry buzzwords are tossed around in meetings like they were candy. But like most business jargon, do you REALLY know what each planning tools is and what the benefits are?  This hands-on workshop provided attendees an overview of the content, function, and implementation of each tool.

Through discussions, case studies, and activities, the speakers helped answer the following questions:

– What’s Really The Difference?

– If You Don’t Have One, Why Start Now?

– Do you have a seat at the planning table?

Special thanks to our speakers Ashely Dale, CPSM, CIT and Erik Grandowski, CPSM.

Extra special thanks to our sponsor Collins Cooper Carusi Architects, Inc.

Member in the Spotlight - Karen Chin

After working in the non-profit field at the High Museum of Art, SciTrek and the Chattahoochee Nature Center, Karen began working in the A/E/C industry. Realizing her interest in architecture and art, a friend gave her the opportunity to begin a new career working in business development and marketing at CDH Partners, an architectural firm in Marietta. She now uses her talents for good as the Marketing Manager for Van Winkle Construction.

A member of SMPS Atlanta since 2002, Karen has served on the Board of Directors as the Education Committee Director and actively participates with the Mentoring program. She has also served on the SMPS Executive Board as Secretary and Treasurer and previously served as a member of the Communications Committee, specifically helping with our award winning newsletter. She also served on the Board of Marietta Middle School Chorus Boosters and volunteer at several non-profit organizations.

Founded in 1931, Van Winkle Construction is a third generation family owned and run general contracting firm. Van Winkle is a full service firm offering preconstruction, construction and design-build services and specializing in the religious, educational, private clubs, medical, industrial and banking fields. Committed to integrity, ingenuity and innovation, Van Winkle continues to grow and serve the community and southeast region.

What I love about SMPS Atlanta: "I’m not sure that I can adequately express what I love most about SMPS. This organization helped me turn a job into a career. One that I love and one at which I can excel. So many members are willing to share candidly and honestly what they’ve learned, what helps them work smarter and the junk to avoid. Members challenge me to stretch the boundaries of what I think that I can do and keep me thinking creatively. I love that SMPS is a tool – an instrument used to shape, form and finish. Isn’t that what we all need . . .to be part of an organization that cares enough to help us be accomplished?"
