SMPS Atlanta Member Spotlight - Admarinés Colón

Why is SMPS membership important to you?

SMPS has played a significant role in my professional growth by connecting marketers and business developers within our industry. Through this community, I’ve participated in valuable workshops that not only helped me learn new skills, but also challenged me to see things from different perspectives. SMPS is a place where competitors become collaborators, friendships are built, and businesses truly grow.

How has joining the SMPS board helped you professionally?

Joining the SMPS board has been incredibly impactful to my professional growth. It has given me the opportunity to connect with people who serve in a wide range of roles across our industry, which has helped me broaden my perspective and better understand the AEC industry. I’ve gained valuable insight into how business finances are managed and how ideas evolve into fully developed projects. Serving on the board has also strengthened my leadership skills by teaching me how to collaborate with and guide a group of people from diverse backgrounds toward a shared goal, often achieving results that exceed expectations. Most importantly, I’ve learned the value of listening, understanding different perspectives, and recognizing that everyone brings something meaningful to the table. Being part of the board has also allowed me to connect and collaborate with professionals from other states, expanding both my network and my impact.

What’s on your bucket list?

I hope to continue the strong legacy that Cecilia Arango has built during her year as president. I’m committed to connecting with more members and ensuring that everyone feels valued and has a meaningful place within our chapter. My goal is for members to experience a true sense of belonging, to know that this is a welcoming environment where they can learn, ask questions, share ideas, and continue developing their talents. Professionally, I aspire to grow into a role where I can focus strategically on capture planning, contributing early to opportunity development, and long-term business growth. This is where my passion, strengths, and creative problem‑solving truly come together. On a personal level, my ultimate bucket list goal is to live in Spain and experience life there in a truly meaningful way.

Do you have a favorite Georgia restaurant or local travel spot you recommend?

My family and I go camping often, and our favorite place is Elijah Clark State Park. There’s nothing better than enjoying homemade empanadas while relaxing by the lake.
