Session Overview

Healthcare facilities are a vital part of our communities. While we can’t gather in person, we still want to maintain our connections at a safe distance. Join us for two brief presentations on healthcare facility strategic planning at two major hospital organizations in Atlanta. What are some of the lessons learned over the last year? Are plans for these facilities changing after COVID-19?

A portion of your registration or sponsorship for this event will go to Feed the Need Atlanta – who are dedicated to feeding healthcare professionals and first responders while supporting local, family-owned restaurants.

featured speakers

Thomas Lemieux
Director, Facilities Development
Grady Health System

Thomas has more than twenty years of experience leading high performing planning, design, and construction teams for large complex construction and modernization projects.  He is a skilled design professional and second generation capital project administrator, and has spent the last 14 years working for nationally recognized academic health systems and gaining a tremendous experience and portfolio of healthcare projects.

Thomas joined Grady Health System in 2019 as the Director, Facilities Development.  Thomas was brought onboard to manage a capital program that will add strength and capacity to the health system by restoring many of the original 990 licensed beds. The hospital currently staff/operates between 700 and 800 beds, many of which are original ward style or semi-private beds.

Soon after joining Grady, the health system had a catastrophic flood impacting 675,000 of hospital space in the West Tower, which is the primary inpatient presence for the main hospital.  Grady was able to mobilize with over 900 contractors to demolish and rebuild the space which would result in making more than 250 beds available in eight months instead of 13 months.

Thomas graduated from Louisiana State University – Baton Rouge with a Bachelor Science in Civil Engineering.  Thomas also graduated from Washington University – St Louis with a post-graduate certificate in project management.
