Modern day technologies and reach have significantly changed the way we communicate with each other, employees, clients and teaming partners. It’s fast, easy and immediate but also creates a lot of noise. How do you rise above the fray and engage in genuine, honest relationship building as part of your business development efforts? You get back to basics and use modern-day methods to reinforce and support your client engagement activities. When we align traditional communication tools—specifically, meaningful in-person conversations—with business development strategy and increase BD capabilities across the firm, client engagement can be incredibly impactful and nothing short of spectacular.

Mindy Hinsley, CPSM, FSMPS

As a former marketing executive and Senior Vice President of a 200+ person AEC firm, Mindy’s responsibilities included strategic planning and direction of business development, corporate communications and marketing initiatives.

Today, she use that knowledge, experience and understanding of the AEC industry to develop teaming strategies, build partnerships, provide marketing assistance and deliver long-range, big-picture initiatives for her clients.

She received a B.S. in Business Communications from Stevenson University and she is a Certified Professional Services Marketer (CPSM). Mindy is also a graduate of the ACEC/MD Leadership Program and the Dale Carnegie "Leadership Training for Managers" program.

Mindy has been an active member of the Society of Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) throughout her career, previously serving the Maryland chapter as president as well as Sponsorship and CPSM chairs. She currently serves on the Maryland Chapter’s Senior Advisory Council and as a mentor for the mentoring program. From 2015-2017, Mindy developed, facilitated and chaired the Chapter’s Senior Advisory Council Leadership roundtables for senior-level marketers. At a regional level, she currently serves as the Sponsorship Chair for the 2018 SMPS Northeast Regional Conference (NERC) and served as co-chair for the 2019 SMPS NERC. From 2015-2017, Mindy served on the national SMPS Certification Committee.  

Mindy also volunteers her time as the Secretary for the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Baltimore Post and is a committee member on both the national Small Business Council and Environmental committees.  

For the past 15+ years, Mindy has presented business development, marketing and procurement process fundamentals to industry professionals on behalf of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), SAME, the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT), SMPS and the Maryland Society of Surveyors.
